Why Use a Professional?

In the complicated and rapidly evolving world of sustainability, where what is green for breakfast may not green for lunch, you need the expertise of a team that understands sustainability more than ever. Ecosante's team of highly skilled experts is here to help.

Benefits a consultant can provide:

* Focus - on the job you were hired to do instead of learning a completely new skill set

* Keep up-to-date  - on green trends, new products, "green washing", government regulations and tax incentives

* Save time by knowing where to focus first - many green initiatives are cost effective with ROIs less than 12 months, while others are not

* Environmental trainings - the most cost effective green initiatives require no monetary investment, just a change in behavior.  Yet changes in behavior can be the most difficult to implement.  Training sessions geared towards educating staff on the benefits of behavioral changes result in heightened sensitivity to the environmental, societial and financial impact of their actions

Composting to save money

Not only is turning kitchen scraps and landscaping debris into compost good for the environment, it's good for the wallet.  Worm gardens and in-vessel technology do not take up much space, and thus can be located on-site, with the by-products used to offset chemical fertilizer, pesticide and insecticide usage.  Coupled with a reduction in waste hauling fees, composting is a simple, yet cost effective solution.

US Moves Towards Energy Star Benchmarking

US Moves Towards Energy Star Benchmarking

As of 2010, California, New York and Washington, DC require non-residential commercial buildings to benchmark their energy efficiency using the EPA's Energy Star Portfolio Manager.  A useful tool, Portfolio Manager ranks comparable buildings on a scale of 1 to 100, 100 representing the highest percentile of energy efficiency.  Buildings scoring a 75 or higher are eligible for an Energy Star label which can be used to market the building to potential buyers, leasees and guests.  Hotels are at a particular advantage as Travelocity and Orbitz's green booking engines allow for easy identification of Energy Star labeled properties.  And with Travelocity's green hotels booking 65% more than non-green counterparts, it's an advantage not to be missed.

Benchmarking fees start as low as $450.  To schedule your building's Energy Star Benchmark, please contact us.
